DME Unlock BMW & MINI MDG1 (2020 and newer)

BMW or MINI from 2020 or newer? Then it has a locked Bosch MDG1 engine computer. With this unlock, we make your car tunable via the OBD port, so you can fully get started with bootmod3, MHD, and other common platforms.

Since June 2020, Bosch has locked the DME in the latest BMW and MINI models. This means you cannot read or write to it via the OBD port, and tuning without an unlock is impossible. We solve that.

Do you drive a model from before June 2020? Then the bench unlock is the right approach.

What we do

We carefully remove the DME from your car and send it away for unlocking. The pins of an MDG1-DME are small and close together, so removal requires the right touch. Afterwards, we reinstall the unlocked DME, and read/write via OBD is open.

Your car remains safely in our workshop all this time. Do you want to keep driving? Rent a loaner car for €35,- excl. VAT per day.

What's included

• The unlock itself, after which your car is tunable via bootmod3, MHD, and other OBD platforms.

Coding or tuning your car and a test drive are not included. A tune can be purchased separately from us, see below.

Lead time

Count on approximately 3 business days. Sometimes it takes a little longer, depending on shipping. The arrangements for that shipping will be documented on a form when you drop off your car.

Important to know

• With the unlock, the DME reverts to its factory state. If a tune was already on it, it is permanently gone.
• All V8 models (N63 and S63 engines, such as the M5, M8, M850i, X5M, X6M, M550i, 750i, and X5/X6 50i) have two DMEs. For these cars, we perform two unlocks, so two times this amount.
• A dealer update is not a problem. The unlock remains. Should OBD access be lost after such an update, we will reactivate it.
• The unlock is safe and does not affect factory performance until you have a tune installed yourself.

Then tuning

Once your car is unlocked, we can also tune it. With our own software or with a tune from the bootmod3 platform. View our chip tuning or ask about it at your appointment.
