S55 Tuning - For BMW F80 F82 M3 M4 F87 M2 COMPETITION.

Bootmod3 is the tuning solution for the BMW M3 F80, M4 F82/F83, and M2 Competition F87 with S55 engine. You flash the original engine computer (DME) through the OBD port, using the app on your phone or laptop.

No removals and no shipping it off: you connect the adapter to the OBD port, choose your map in the bootmod3 app, and the tune is loaded within a few minutes. You can always switch between maps or go back to fully stock.

Who is bootmod3?

Bootmod3 is the platform from Pro Tuning Freaks in Canada, the pioneer of cloud-based flash tuning for BMW and the most widely used tuning platform for the F- and G-series worldwide. All maps and datalogs live in the cloud, the software gets continuous updates, and there is a global network of professional tuners behind it.

There are other flash platforms for BMW, such as MHD. We recommend bootmod3 almost every time: it leads the way in support for new models, CustomROM offers features you won't find elsewhere (map switching from the steering wheel, AntiLag, flex fuel), and the full Map Editor gives every tuner what they need. On top of that, we work with it every day in our workshop, so you get our support along with it.

Power gains per stage

Bootmod3 publishes its gains for North American fuel. For Europe: 91 octane corresponds to RON95 (Euro 95) and 93 octane to RON98 (Super Plus). The lists below have been converted accordingly.

Stage 1 and 2

• Stage 1 RON95: up to +20% power and +22% torque
• Stage 1 RON98: up to +22% power and +23% torque
• Stage 2 RON95: up to +23% power and +26% torque
• Stage 2 RON98: up to +24% power and +26% torque
• Stage 2 E30: up to +26% power and +26% torque
• Stage 2 race fuel: up to +26% power and +26% torque

Stage 2H (with upgraded hardware)

• Stage 2H RON95: up to +38% power and +30% torque
• Stage 2H RON98: up to +42% power and +30% torque
• Stage 2H E30: up to +45% power and +33% torque
• Stage 2H race fuel: up to +45% power and +33% torque

An AGG version with more aggressive burbles is also available for every Stage 2 map.

What you can do with bootmod3

• One OTS map of your choice is included, plus every map labeled FREE. Choose the "Unlock all OTS maps" option and you get instant access to every ready-made map for this engine.
• Map switching: switch between 4 maps from the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, without reflashing.
• Flex fuel support: with a flex fuel sensor, the tune adjusts automatically to any ethanol percentage, from E0 to E100.
• AntiLag: build boost at a standstill or rolling, for launches and rolling starts (track use only).
• Datalogging of dozens of channels at once, with graphs and sharing straight from the app.
• Live Dash: real-time gauges in the app while you drive.
• Read and clear fault codes in every module, reset adaptations.
• Full Map Editor for your own tweaks or custom tuning, including cars with upgraded turbos.
• GTS/CS transmission flash included for cars with a DCT gearbox.
• Revert to the original software and relock the DME at any time.

Extra options

Through the OTS maps and custom tuning, there are all kinds of extra options you can set, including:

• Burbles: set a more aggressive exhaust note on any map
• GTS start-up sound on startup
• Disable OPF/GPF (track use only)
• Quieter cold start: catalyst heating off at startup
• Turn off the fault light for decat downpipes (track use only)
• Set the exhaust valve yourself, for example always open in Sport
• Remove the top speed limiter
• Set boost per gear
• Recalibrate the sport gauges in iDrive to the new output
• Custom throttle response
• E85, race fuel, and methanol injection tuning

Options that affect emissions components are intended for track use only.

What you need

To flash, you need a bootmod3 wifi adapter or ENET OBD cable in addition to the license, available separately in our shop.

If your S55 has a software level from March 2019 or newer, the DME is locked and needs to be unlocked first. We handle that at our workshop with the DME bench unlock.

Good to know

Tuning can affect your factory warranty, and not every modification is allowed on public roads. Features such as AntiLag and the modification or removal of emissions-related components are intended for track use only.

Eyeing a new car? Your bootmod3 license can be transferred once to another car with the same engine. You first restore the original software and relock the DME, then transfer the license to the new chassis number in the app. Standalone OTS bundles and custom maps do not transfer.
