B58 Tuning for BMW F and G series.

Bootmod3 is the tuning solution for BMW F and G series models with the B58 engine, from the M140i and M340i to the X5 and 840i. You flash the original engine computer (DME) through the OBD port, using the app on your phone or laptop.

Nothing to remove and nothing to ship: you connect the adapter to the OBD port, pick your map in the bootmod3 app and within a few minutes the tune is installed. Switching between maps or going back to fully stock is always possible.

Who is bootmod3?

Bootmod3 is the platform of Pro Tuning Freaks from Canada, the pioneer of cloud-based flash tuning for BMW and the most widely used tuning platform for the F and G series worldwide. All maps and datalogs live in the cloud, the software receives continuous updates and there is a worldwide network of professional tuners behind it.

There are other flash platforms for BMW, such as MHD. We almost always recommend bootmod3: it leads the way in support for new models, CustomROM offers features you will not find elsewhere (map switching via the steering wheel, AntiLag, flexfuel) and the full Map Editor gives every tuner room to work. On top of that, we use it every day in our own workshop, so our support comes with it.

Power gains per stage

Bootmod3 lists its gains for North American fuel. For Europe: 91 octane corresponds to RON95 (Euro 95) and 93 octane to RON98 (Superplus). The lists below have been converted accordingly.

• Stage 1 RON95: up to +18% hp and +26% torque
• Stage 1 RON98: up to +20% hp and +26% torque

B58-D (2020+, incl. G20 M340i, X3 M40i, X4 M40i)

• Stage 1 RON95: up to +18% hp and +28% torque
• Stage 1 RON98: up to +21% hp and +30% torque
• Stage 1 E30: up to +28% hp and +34% torque
• Stage 2 RON95: up to +22% hp and +33% torque
• Stage 2 RON98: up to +25% hp and +35% torque
• Stage 2 E30: up to +31% hp and +38% torque

• Stage 2 race gas: up to +36% hp and +40% torque

Percentages are relative to cars without the MPPK package. An AGG version with more aggressive burbles is also available for every Stage 2 map.

What you can do with bootmod3

• One OTS map of your choice is included, plus all maps labeled FREE. Choose the "Unlock all OTS maps" variant and you get instant access to all ready-made maps for this engine.
• Map switching: switch between 4 maps using the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, without flashing again.
• Flex Fuel support: with a flexfuel sensor, the tune automatically adapts to any ethanol percentage, from E0 to E100.
• AntiLag: build boost at a standstill or on the move, for launches and rolling starts (track use only).
• Datalogging of dozens of channels at once, with graphs and sharing directly from the app.
• Live Dash: real-time gauges in the app while driving.
• Read and clear fault codes in all modules, reset adaptations.
• Full Map Editor for your own adjustments or custom tuning, including cars with upgrade turbos.
• Restoring the original software and locking the DME again is possible at any time.

Extra options

Through the OTS maps and custom tuning you can configure all kinds of extra options, including:

• Burbles: set a more aggressive exhaust sound on any map
• GTS startup sound when starting
• OPF/GPF delete in software (track only)
• Quieter cold start: catalyst heating off at startup
• Check engine light off with decat downpipes (track only)
• Configure the exhaust valve yourself, for example always open in Sport
• Remove the top speed limiter
• Set boost per gear
• Recalibrate the sport displays in iDrive to the new power output
• Custom throttle response
• E85, race gas and methanol injection tuning

Options that affect emissions components are intended for track use only.

What you need

In addition to the license, you need a bootmod3 wifi adapter or ENET OBD cable for flashing, available separately in our shop.

If your car runs a software version from November 2019 or newer, the DME is locked and needs to be unlocked first. We do that at our workshop too: choose the DME bench unlock for cars built before June 2020 or the DME unlock for June 2020 and newer.

Good to know

Tuning can affect your factory warranty and not every modification is allowed on public roads. Features such as AntiLag and modifying or removing emissions-related components are intended for track use only.

Eyeing a new car? Your bootmod3 license can be transferred once to another car with the same engine. First restore the original software and lock the DME, then transfer the license in the app to the new VIN. Separate OTS bundles and custom maps do not transfer.
